Welcome to your cabin

CARO — Whether you live in a ranch, Cape Cod or chalet style home, you can make it into your very own log cabin – inside and out – with the help of a new local business.

Northern Log Supply, 1103 Sanilac Rd. (M-46), officially opened Friday. The new business is hosting a grand opening this weekend.

“It all depends on how much of the log-feel you want,” said Peter Green, owner of Northern Log Supply. “Some people want just a room, others want their whole house – inside and out.”

Northern Log Supply, formerly Green’s Wood Products, has branched out to offer more interior furnishing and decor items. The business offers items to make every room into a rustic, wooden retreat.

“We have everything for kitchens – countertops, cupboards, flooring, anything you would need. It’s a one-stop shop,” Green said.

In addition, log tables and chairs, beds, futons, dressers and many other furnishings are in stock. Many other items can be made to order.

Wrought iron and faux wrought iron items are in stock at the store. Many other wall hangings, including wooden clocks and more, are featured throughout the store.

For the true outdoor enthusiast, Northern Log Supply offers unique custom antler lighting, made from deer antlers. Some of the lighting is featured in the store.

Staircases and railings can also be customized to fit each home. Northern Log Supply works directly with Green’s Log Rail, a company owned and operated by Peter Green’s family.

“Our goal is to bring the ‘up north’ product down state,” said Green. “We handle basically everything but your OSB and studs.”

Many of the products that Northern Log Supply manufactures are shipped out of state. The company actively participates in home decor shows around the country to market their woodworks.

The store features a 1,540 square foot workshop, where many items are processed and created. Most of the wood used by Northern Log Supply is harvested in West Branch.

“I think you can have that woodsy look and still have an elegant home,” said Green. “That’s where we can help each homeowner individually.”
