Schneider’s overtime goal lifts Habs over Flyers

PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) – Mathieu Schneider scored a power-play winner in overtime to help the Montreal Canadiens beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 on Friday.

Philadelphia took a 2-0 lead early in the first period with scores from Joffrey Lupul and Mike Richards before Montreal responded with three unanswered strikes in a two-minute span.

Tomas Plekanec recorded his 17th goal of the year at 16:25, Tom Kostopoulos tied the score 13 seconds later and Alexei Kovalev gave the Habs a 3-2 lead with 1:31 left in the period.

Flyers wing Simon Gagne tallied his 24th goal of the season at 13:43 into the second period to tie the score at 3-3.
